Making Wood Good- THIS IS HISTORY

In 2019, the world was different. Social distancing wasn't yet "a thing", 2 beers only required a £10 note (CASH! Remember CASH?!), the price of oak was less than a car, OASIS still hadn't reformed and the world's best OASIS tribute band, "SUPERNOVA" hadn't even reached the egg fertilisation stage... the list goes on. But I digress; the "C" word was just around the corner... COVID. 

Now, the construction industry runs deep in my family. My dad. His dad. His dad's dad and his dad's dad's dad all plied their trade in this beautiful game. I'd been working in the wonderful world of engineering and construction recruitment for the best part of 20 years, managing teams across the UK and setting up 2 recruitment businesses. The pandemic (and BREXIT, don't get me started!!!!!!) changed everything in the UK. But from those lock down ashes rose the world's greatest Shropshire based carpentry business. Making Wood Good. A name that raises many a smile with it's inuendo and interpretations; but a name of which I can't completely lay claim to creating. It came from Tim; a powertool frenzied fella from Newport, Shropshire who after supping on a keg we'd "acquired" and drank from my garage, whispered those three sacred words... Like COVID, they stuck around.

Fast forward many years, projects, lengths of timber, screws, glues, coats of paint, SUPERNOVA gigs etc etc and Making Wood Good has become a unique, one-off and idea inspiring carpentry business. Project diversity doesn't quite do it justice. Just hit the button below to see the array of projects and products we've successfully designed and delivered to the Great British public; from Manchester to London... and even Cornwall, wood has been made good across the land. Inside, outside, bedroom, bathroom, office, play room... we've done it all.

So what makes us different? Ideas... very very very creative and inspiring ideas. This is genuinely something I love to do and customers always say that the infectious enthusiasm I have for design, finding the best solution and creating something completely unique proves to be fundamental in the high precision, faultless finish and excellent service they receive from consultation to cash (or bank transfer)!

So, from now on, Carpentry takes centre stage... and of course being the "Liam" in the world's number one OASIS tribute band; SUPERNOVA (www.supernovaoasis.co.uk)
